BHC Helps with Indiana’s State-wide Blood Shortage
Indianapolis, Indiana – July 9, 2017
We did our part yesterday to help save lives by hosting a blood drive with Indiana Blood Center. Indiana’s blood supply is currently at a critical low – meaning that there is not enough blood for patients, most who are recovering after an incident or fighting diseases, at Indiana hospitals. The term “critical” is an official designation that requires Indiana Blood Center to report the status of the blood supply to the State of Indiana. On a given day the Indiana Blood Center says they have about 1,700 to 2,000 units of blood available.
“The health of our community is at risk because we don’t have those units that are so needed and we can’t in the moment reproduce those units. It is the blood on the shelves today that will help a patient tomorrow.” – Andrea Fagan with the Indiana Blood Center
Thanks to all BHC employees that donated and to the wonderful staff of the Indiana Blood Center!
